GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is the universal format for animated images on the web. While the format is simple, creating high-quality GIFs is not. Most converters use a basic single-pass approach that produces large files with poor color accuracy. Our converter uses a professional two-pass palette method: first analyzing your video to generate an optimal 256-color palette, then encoding the GIF using that palette. The result is dramatically better color reproduction, smoother gradients, and smaller file sizes.
Create GIFs from MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WMV, FLV, WebM, M4V, MPEG, and virtually any other video format. Maximum GIF duration is 60 seconds to ensure reasonable file sizes.
Create shareable reaction GIFs and memes from video clips. GIFs autoplay on Twitter, Slack, Discord, and most platforms without user interaction.
Show product features in action with animated GIFs. Perfect for landing pages, email campaigns, and GitHub READMEs where video isn't supported.
Convert short tutorial clips to GIFs for documentation, blog posts, and how-to guides. GIFs loop automatically, making them perfect for step-by-step demonstrations.

GIFs are limited to 256 colors. Our two-pass method first analyzes your entire video clip to find the optimal 256 colors, then encodes the GIF using that custom palette. This produces significantly better color accuracy and smaller file sizes compared to single-pass converters.
To reduce GIF file size: shorten the duration, lower the FPS (5-10 is usually enough), reduce the width, and choose clips with less motion and fewer color changes. A 5-second clip at 10 FPS and 480px width typically produces a very manageable file.
You can create GIFs up to 60 seconds long. However, shorter GIFs (2-10 seconds) are recommended for most use cases as they produce smaller, more shareable files that load quickly.
